A client approached PartMaker looking to manufacture custom LOCATOR® parts that were compatible with Astra 5.4EV but of a different height as the one that is needed by the customer isn’t manufactured by Astra. The customer needed 7mm height locators, and to facilitate that, the team at PartMaker modified an existing 5mm height locator to match the exact specification required by the client.

Much deliberation was had internally between the team at PartMaker on how to best approach this project, and it was decided that since there wasn’t much added effort in designing a LOCATOR® sized in-between the original height of 5mm and the custom height of 7mm, the design and manufacturing of the 6mm locator was commissioned as well. This would then be sent to the customer in addition to the original 7mm to give the customer an added choice of parts.
